The sign-in and sign-out processes are the most visible aspects of an after school program for parents. As a parent, I take part in this process every day. Although this experience may be brief, it can leave a lasting impression on the community. Here are some considerations:
Parents can feel rushed during this process. They might be running late on their commute, and a cumbersome process can slow them down even more.
This process can feel chaotic at times. Many children and parents come and go from the program in a short period of time.
Children may not be the most focused during this process, pulling concentration from parents.
Arux Connect: Child Care app for iOS streamlines this daily parent interaction with after school programming by automating the sign-in and sign-out process. This efficiency is created through the Kiosk Mode within the app, which allows parents to sign their children in or out, and it has some updates.
New: enhanced privacy and increased usability through multiple language support
To create enhanced privacy and usability within Kiosk Mode in Arux Connect: Child Care, we're introducing two key improvements: Language support
We've introduced a new language selector that instantly translates the Kiosk Mode into three additional languages: Chinese, Somali, and Spanish. This feature ensures a more inclusive and accessible experience for diverse user communities. After the Kiosk Mode is translated and the user has finished signing their child or children in or out, it will divert back to English.
Enhanced privacy
When interfacing with the app, community users must now select their name before accessing child-specific information to sign the child in or out. This adds an extra layer of privacy and makes it easier for parents to sign in multiple children simultaneously.
Programs still have the option to require security codes, which means users must enter an assigned code before proceeding. Rather than displaying a long list of all children, users will see only the children they are authorized to pick up.
Continued focus on parent experience
These Kiosk Mode updates on security and accessibility demonstrate our commitment to innovative ways for parents to facilitate your program's sign-in and sign-out process. Looking ahead to 2025, we will continue enhancing the parent experience within Arux Connect: Child Care.
“Sign-in and sign-out is the first step for community members to interact with our software, and sometimes, it can be different individuals than those registering and paying for programming. We’re always thinking about how they interact with and understand the technology.” — Steven Novotny, Co-Founder, Arux.
